Swan Hills Archaeological & Historical Sites: A Collaborative Search with a Local Nation to Locate Heritage

Forestry operations cover large areas of the province, often overlapping with areas that have been used by Indigenous peoples since time immemorial. Learn about how West Fraser supported Historic Resource Impact Assessments (HRIA) across the northern portion of the Swan Hills region to identify archaeological sites and other historic resources, including traditional land use sites.

This work is supported by West Fraser through fundings from the Forest Resource Improvement Association of Alberta (FRIAA), with technical work led by Ember Archaeology, a division of Tree Time Services Inc., in cooperation with Swan River First Nation.
