Assessing Mountain Pine Beetle Impacts Using Remote Sensing

Between 2015 and 2020, mountain pine beetle (MPB) activity increased substantially across the Hinton Wood Products Forest Management Area (FMA). As the infestation spread, traditional aerial surveys and control actions were no longer practical to cover the entire area. Learn about how satellite imagery was used to map MPB impacts across more than 300 000 ha.
